SF Arts Commission Gallery Passport Event
Sunday, October 18, 2015 , 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Japantown Peace Plaza & SF Japantown
The San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries (SFAC Galleries) is hosting its signature event, Passport, on Sunday, October 18, 2015. This unique event puts the art collecting experience in the hands of the general public. By bringing local artists into neighborhood venues, Passport attendees can “create” their own limited-edition artist’s book by collecting original, artist-designed stamps in a customized “passport” notebook. Walking throughout Japantown, hundreds of do-it-yourself art collectors will follow a designated route to collect stamps from hot Bay Area artists while discovering the small businesses that line one of the Mayor’s Invest in Neighborhoods corridors.Fifteen emerging and established artists will be participating this year including: Kathy Aoki, Takehito Etani, Rodney Ewing, Kota Ezawa, Renée Gertler, Taro Hattori, Jun Kaneko, Ma Li, Vicky Mihara Avery & Linda Mihara (Paper Tree), Masako Miki, Robert Minervini, Sandra Ono, Hadi Tabatabai, Tina Takemoto, Taravat Talepasand, and a stamp by Ruth Asawa, courtesy of The Estate of Ruth Asawa.
We are very excited to have such unique and diverse businesses and organizations in Japantown participating as host venues this year, including: Kinokuniya Bookstore, Aloha Warehouse, Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC), Paper Tree, Katachi, National Japanese American Historical Society (NJAHS), Tokaido Arts, Pika Pika, Mashiko Folkcraft, MaruQ, Yakini Q Café, , Ichiban Kan, and many more!
